Services and Treatment Schedules

At Toronto AcuBirthing, we recognize that every woman has a different experience during her pregnancy. We have found the following treatment guidelines to be the optimal schedule for many women, but we are flexible with these guidelines depending on the circumstances surrounding your pregnancy. These are recommendations based on our experience to help ease the transition to motherhood. Regular treatment during pregnancy helps to ensure happy, healthy moms give birth to healthy babies more efficiently. Postpartum recovery is often quicker and easier with regular treatment both during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.

Acupuncture at this stage can be useful in preparing your body for the birthing process, encouraging cervical ripening and promoting the beginning of labour. Treatments from week 38 onwards will be twice weekly until labour begins. Though we highly encourage regular treatment in advance of this stage of pregnancy, we are happy to help with cervical ripening/labour preparation at this stage as well.

$200 for first hr, $85 for additional hrs

This service begins with a consultation either on the phone on in person during your 3rd trimester up to 1 month before the baby is due to arrive. We want to get to know you and have an idea of your birth plan so we can better understand how we’ll be able to assist you during your labour. Studies have shown that acupuncture and acupressure during labour can encourage more efficient labour and reduce the need for medical interventions (including use of forceps/suction, epidurals and Caesarian-sections).
Why you would want acupuncture/acupressure during labour:
• Relax soft tissues of the pelvis to support optimal fetal positioning
• Encourage strength and regularity of uterine contractions
• Promote cervical ripening
• Help re-establish progress in stalled labour
• Aid in pain management
• Provide physical comfort and emotional support
Depending on what concern we are assisting you to manage and what stage of labour we are attending, we may be there anywhere between 2-5 hours. It is also possible that we may come and go to help resolve situations as they arise.
*$225 deposit in advance. This payment can be made by: cash, cheque or etransfer.
